Cherraque-Cherraque is a work based on the sounds and oral traditions of the village of Lousa. The three ceremonial dances (Traditional Dances of Lousa – Dance of the Virgins, Dance of the Men and Dance of the Scissors), classified as Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2014 and whose origins date back to 1640, serve as the starting point for the construction of a sound world deeply connected to the roots of this community.

Several elements contribute to this connection, from the sung and spoken texts performed by members of the community, to the melodies preserved through singing, as well as the traditional musical instruments from the region.

One of these instruments - genebres - traditionally used in the Dance of the Men, is a unique musical instrument. It is an idiophone characteristic of this village, with a highly distinctive sound. Nowadays known as genebres, it was formerly referred to as cherraque-cherraque, due to the sound it produces. In addition to being part of the instrumental formation of the work, its singular timbre is further transformed through electronic processing.

Eco-Geração Verde is a hymn composed in artistic collaboration with Tiago Cardoso, as part of the Eco-Escolas programme, promoted by the Associação Bandeira Azul da Europa. It is an interdisciplinary project developed by the Escola Artística do Conservatório de Música do Porto.

The restless and unbalanced contours of the melodic lines and the harmonic constructions in constant conflict. The deafening silence deliberately provoked and the uncertainty created by the improvisational spaces. The notes in extreme registers and the exaggeratedly intricate contrapuntal movements. The creation of false expectations between sections and the control and release of time. The abrupt timbral distortion and the momentary synchronization of the instrumental groups that construct erroneous notions of tranquility. These are the elements that follow in close relationship in the confluence of a strong, pressured and constantly confronting sound.

Unwanted is based on the text The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy by Tim Burton (translated by Margarida Vale de Gato). Oyster Boy is a child who is born with the shape of an oyster, in an environment that rejects him. The story is told by Oyster Boy's sister, with revolt and uneasiness, who, knowing the fateful fate of her brother, fears that such a tragedy is underlying it.
